Arthroscopy: Used for examining joints, such as the knee or shoulder, to diagnose and treat conditions like arthritis or torn ligaments.
Bronchoscopy: A scope inserted through the mouth or nose to view the windpipe and lungs.
Colonoscopy: A scope inserted through the anus to examine the large intestine.
Cystoscopy / Ureteroscopy: Used to view the bladder and urinary tract, often involving a ureteroscope to examine the ureters and kidneys.
Endoscopy: A general term for procedures involving a flexible tube with a camera to see inside the body. Common types include:
Upper GI Endoscopy (Gastroscopy/EGD): A scope that goes through the mouth to examine the esophagus, stomach, and upper small intestine.
Capsule Endoscopy: Involves swallowing a small camera that takes pictures as it travels through the digestive tract.
Hysteroscopy: A scope inserted through the cervix to examine the uterus.
Laryngoscopy: Used to examine the larynx (voice box) and vocal cords.
Laparoscopy: A scope inserted into the abdomen or pelvis to view organs and perform surgery.
